The Executive Chairman of Odi Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Ajala HRA, has awarded certificates of participation to students who excelled in the Summer Tech Boot Camp 2.0.
The event, held today, also witnessed the rewarding of the two best students with laptops, while other commendable participants received consolation prizes.
Reflecting on the occasion, the council boss expressed his enthusiasm and pride, stating, “It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the second graduation ceremony of our Summer Boot Camp. Over the past two weeks, we have embarked on an intensive training program, engaging pupils and students from our Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in a transformative educational experience.”
He continued by highlighting the evolution of the programme: “Our administration initiated the traditional coaching programme early on, aimed at refreshing and enhancing the cognitive skills of our young learners in various academic subjects. However, recognizing the growing importance of digital literacy, we took a significant step forward last summer by introducing our youth to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and computer-related courses, aptly named the Summer Boot Camp.”
HRA underscored the success of the programme and its crucial role in today’s digital age, “This initiative was designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in these critical areas. The programme’s overwhelming success was evident, as many graduating pupils and students demonstrated exceptional skills in a remarkably short training period.”
He emphasized the importance of computer literacy, noting its indispensable role in bridging the digital divide and enhancing career opportunities, “In our current digital era, computer literacy is indispensable. It equips individuals with the ability to engage in a multitude of computer and technology-related activities, ranging from basic application use to more complex tasks like programming. Virtually no professional field today is untouched by the need for technological proficiency.”
He concluded, “In today’s competitive job market, employers increasingly seek candidates with robust computer skills. Possessing such skills can provide individuals with a distinct advantage, allowing them to stand out from the competition and secure their desired employment. With the right resources and dedication, anyone can acquire and develop this essential competency.”
The event was attended by the Vice-Chairman, Hon Seyi Jakande, the Secretary to the LCDA, 𝘏𝘰𝘯 Mujeeb Daramola, among other dignitaries.
