The Delta State Police Command has announced an intense search for Mr. Stanley Overmureye, the father accused of the brutal murder of his six-year-old daughter, Abigail Stanley. The gruesome act allegedly occurred on June 15, 2024, in Uviama New Layout, Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
According to police reports, Mr. Overmureye is accused of repeatedly smashing Abigail’s head against a wall, leading to her death. The horrific crime was reported by the suspect’s brother, prompting immediate action by local law enforcement.
SP Edafe Bright, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, provided details on the case, stating, “The deceased, Abigail Stanley, was found with severe head injuries consistent with being forcibly struck against a wall multiple times. Our officers have recovered the child’s body and it has been deposited at the mortuary.”
The suspect, Mr. Overmureye, fled the scene and is currently at large. Delta State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and has ordered a comprehensive manhunt to ensure the suspect is brought to justice. “This barbaric act is deeply saddening. We assure the public that we are doing everything in our power to apprehend the suspect,” stated CP Abaniwonda.
