Reports indicate that fares from Berger Bus Stop to Mowe, Ibafo, and Arepo surged from N400 to N1000, exacerbating the plight of the stranded commuters. As Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials worked tirelessly to tow the fallen truck and restore traffic flow, passengers shared their frustrations and experiences.
Passenger Reactions
Oluwaseun Adebola, a Lagos resident, expressed her exasperation: “I’ve been stuck here for over three hours. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially with the fare hike. I had to pay N1000 instead of the usual N400, and it’s putting a strain on my budget.”
Samuel Okafor, a commuter from Ibafo, also said: “This is beyond inconvenient. We’ve been at a standstill for almost two hours. The authorities need to do something about these frequent accidents on this road.”
Another passenger, Chinyere Nwankwo, shared her experience: “I decided to walk because sitting in the car wasn’t getting us anywhere. The heat, the traffic, and now the fare hike – it’s just too much. Something needs to change.”
As the FRSC officials continue their efforts to clear the blockage, motorists and passengers are left grappling with the fallout from yet another traffic nightmare on one of Nigeria’s busiest highways.
