Odiolowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has been named the best-performing LCDA in Lagos State.
The announcement, made by Lagos Reporters, follows an exhaustive 60-day analysis of the performance of council chairmen across the state.
Under the astute leadership of Hon Rasaq Ajala (HRA), Odiolowo Ojuwoye LCDA distinguished itself among 57 local administrations, including 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The comprehensive ranking process was designed to identify and celebrate the most effective councils in promoting development and serving their communities.
“Our ranking process combined primary and secondary data collection methods. Field agents gathered direct information from various communities, while volunteers assisted in collecting relevant secondary data,” stated Lagos Reporters.
This rigorous methodology ensured a holistic evaluation of each council performance, incorporating both quantitative data and qualitative insights from residents.
A crucial component of the ranking was a residents’ opinion poll conducted in each local government area, capturing public perception and assessing the overall acceptability of the council chairmen’s performance.
This grassroots feedback was instrumental in forming a balanced view of each council’s impact. The evaluation criteria spanned several key areas: healthcare initiatives and services, educational infrastructure, infrastructural development, job creation programmes, and youth empowerment initiatives.
Councils were assessed on their efforts to improve healthcare facilities and services, ensuring residents have access to essential medical care.
The enhancement of educational infrastructure and the provision of quality education were major factors, reflecting each council’s commitment to fostering a literate and educated community.
The development and maintenance of physical infrastructure, including roads, markets, and public buildings, were critical measures the effectiveness of each council in creating a conducive environment for economic and social activities.
Councils were also evaluated on their initiatives to create employment opportunities, which are vital for economic stability and growth.
Programmes aimed at empowering young people through skills training and entrepreneurship support were key indicators of the dedication of each council to nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators.
