In a bid to address the growing energy demands in Nigeria, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, participated in a 5-day-long NOG Energy Week held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.
The event, which took place from June 30 to July 4, 2024, brought together industry stakeholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), and others.
During the event, Dr. Abdullahi and other panelists engaged in thought-provoking discussions, answering questions from critical stakeholders, industry watchers, and the general public.
The Energy Boss highlighted the evolving nature of Nigeria’s energy mix and emphasized the importance of exploring emerging opportunities for indigenous companies. He stressed the need to shift towards low-carbon energy sources such as nuclear and renewable technologies to ensure a secure, affordable, and sustainable energy supply.
Dr. Abdullahi identified various opportunities within the country’s energy mix for indigenous investors, including the renewable energy market, energy efficiency solutions, energy storage, and gas potential. He emphasized the potential of solar power plants, wind farms, and mini-grids in providing off-grid communities with energy solutions.
The NOG Energy Week is an annual event that brings together key stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to address national challenges and propose multidimensional solutions for the country’s energy industry.
With the participation of Dr. Abdullahi and other industry experts, the event served as a platform for in-depth discussions on Nigerian content solutions to meet the country’s energy demands.
