Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu recently engaged in high-level discussions with Caribbean leaders during the sidelines of the AAM and AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum.
This strategic exchange aimed to foster collaboration and explore opportunities for mutual growth and development between Lagos State and the Caribbean region.
Governor Sanwo-olu had the privilege to connect with several key figures, including His Excellency Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana, as well as Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada; Philip Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia; Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister of the Bahamas; and Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados. These discussions were enriched by the insights of Aliko Dangote, President/CEO of the Dangote Group, who brought a significant perspective to the meetings.
The conversations were strategically focused on enhancing trade partnerships, fostering investment initiatives, and developing sustainable economic strategies. The aim was to strengthen ties between Lagos State and the Caribbean nations, driving collective progress and economic resilience.
Governor Sanwo-olu emphasized the importance of these interactions in advancing shared interests and building a foundation for enduring partnerships. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, from enhancing trade relations to exploring avenues for collaborative investment in various sectors.
Reflecting on the meetings, Governor Sanwo-olu expressed optimism about the potential for fruitful collaborations, stating, “Our discussions were constructive and forward-looking, focusing on how we can leverage each other’s strengths for mutual benefit. This marks a significant step towards fostering deeper ties between Lagos State and the Caribbean region.”
