The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has spearheaded a comprehensive sanitation advocacy programme and clean-up exercise at Awolowo Market in Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA.
The initiative, aimed at raising awareness about the critical importance of maintaining clean and hygienic environments, particularly in market areas, saw enthusiastic participation from residents, traders, and local officials.
The sanitation advocacy programme held today was meticulously organized, and it featured informative sessions on the adverse effects of improper waste disposal and the benefits of a clean environment.
LAWMA officials highlighted the health risks associated with unsanitary conditions and educated the public on best practices for waste management, including proper sorting and disposal of waste materials.
The highlight of the event was the hands-on clean-up exercise, where volunteers and LAWMA personnel joined forces to rid Awolowo Market of litter and debris.Armed with cleaning tools and protective gear, the participants worked tirelessly to transform the market into a cleaner and more appealing space.

In his address, the Managing Director of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, emphasized the organization’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and more livable environment for all Lagosians.
