Haleema Olumegbon, a kidney-disease patient, has relocated to Ibadan for over a month, eagerly hoping to meet Agbala Gabriel, a well-known philanthropist and pastor based in the city, for financial assistance.
Haleema’s story was shared by the Demi Care Foundation in a Facebook post on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
According to the foundation, over eight million naira (N8,104,000) has been raised and deposited into Haleema’s account to support her medical needs.
“We have disbursed the remaining balance of 2 million naira to Haleema Olumegbon. This brings the total amount disbursed directly to her for dialysis to N8,104,000 over the span of two months,” the foundation stated in a post.
The Demi Care Foundation expressed concerns that Haleema might exhaust the funds contributed to her account while waiting to meet the pastor.
“Despite our concerns over her incessant requests for funds, which may jeopardize her transplant operation and cause a medical emergency, we are compelled to continue providing assistance as she has justified the need for 24-hour oxygen and other medical expenses,” the foundation explained.
“As a team, we deliberated and decided to release the remaining funds to her. Receipts for all disbursements are available for verification upon request,” they added.
Haleema relocated to Ibadan with the hope of meeting Agbala Gabriel, a popular Facebook evangelist known for raising medical funds for people through his platform. Unfortunately, despite being in Ibadan for a month, she has not been able to see him.
The foundation expressed hope that the evangelist would attend to her soon, noting that she has exhausted her funds in Ibadan while trying to meet him.
“She rented a house and bought a mattress near the church, just to see this pastor,” it noted, highlighting her desperate situation.
