Gunmen have attacked former governor of Imo State, Sir Ikedi Ohakim.
According to a report, his convoy was attacked on Monday January 2, 2023, while the former governor escaped death by whiskers.
It was reported that Ohakim was in the same vehicle with two of his children, when his convoy was attacked at Orieagu, in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State by gunmen.
It was also gathered that four of his orderlies who were in the back-up vehicle of the convoy were not lucky as the gunmen bombed the vehicle when they could not get the exact vehicle Ohakim and his children were traveling in.
A source said: “His Excellency was the main target but his brave driver was smart enough to beat them because they were driving to block him.
“Disappointed that their main target had escaped, they blocked his backup vehicle and burnt it. The four policemen with him were feared killed.”
Ohakim’s media aide, Emma Chukwu, said: “I will comment on the issue later.”
Imo State Police Command has yet to comment on the attack.
