Rukayat Shittu, the representative of the Owode/Onire constituency within Kwara State, has unveiled a new rural palliative initiative designed to provide crucial support to market women operating within her jurisdiction.
The announcement was made by Hon. Rukayat Shittu on Sunday August 13, 2023.
This programme is strategically aligned with the objectives of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration and seeks to mitigate the economic ramifications stemming from recent policy measures, including the removal of fuel subsidies, and other policy shifts under the stewardship of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Launching the campaign, Hon. Shittu commenced her efforts with a visit to the Temidire Market located within the Efue/Berikodo ward of the Owode/Onire Constituency.
During her visit, she used the opportunity to actively engage with the rural community at the ward level, imparting information and insights about the policies being pursued by the current administration.
In addressing the concerns of the market traders, Shittu affirmed that this initiative represents a cornerstone of the commitment to enhancing services for the constituents.
She further encouraged the traders not to perceive the current government policies as punitive, drawing a parallel between the challenging process of constructing a sturdy and aesthetically pleasing house and the eventual benefits that such an undertaking can provide for an entire family.
Assuring the market women of the long-term benefits of this initiative, she emphasised that the comprehensive vision and purpose behind these policies will contribute to the sustainable welfare and prosperity of the constituency.
The introduction of the rural palliative scheme by the lawmaker is symbolic of a forward-looking effort to alleviate the economic impacts experienced by market women within the Owode/Onire constituency.
This initiative also demonstrates a shared commitment to the larger governmental policies aimed at advancing the welfare of Kwara State’s residents in the face of evolving economic conditions and policy changes.

announce that my office has kick-started the distribution of our rural palliative today at Oja Temidire in the Efue/Berikodo ward of Owode/Onire Constituency.
“On this, we are supporting those with small-scale businesses, which we believe will advance the efforts of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal and other policies of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the State.
“On my visit to the local market, I enlightened them about the policy of the current administration and assured them that the policy will ultimately lead to better service to the people.
“The process of building a beautiful house maybe tedious and stressful, but if done successfully, the house will eventually provide shelter to all members of the family.
“Be assured, I am fully committed to fulfilling my responsibilities and I hope that our contribution will make a positive impact on the lives of the people we are serving.”
