Not less than 175 teenagers have been empowered by Gloria Odunayo Adejare foundation, GOA Foundation in a 5-day skill acquisition programme.
The programme was held between 24th and 29th July, 2023, at Bloomington School, Ibeju-lekki, Lagos.
The empowerment project which initially aimed at equipping 150 teenagers with skills in frame-making, wig making, catering, barbing, bead-making, fascinator design, and make-up artistry, started with 63 teenagers on the first day. Then, the numbers progressively skyrocketed to 175, thus successfully training 175 teenagers.
Speaking about the project, the Founder of GOA Foundation, Gloria Adejare, said the teenagers were divided into different units in accordance to their interests with a trainer heading each unit.
She also said that the children were taught the power of vision, purposeful living, values, relationship with God, every morning before the training commenced, which was to help position their hearts.
“It was a remarkable experience as the program was rounded off with a party, where the teenagers showcased the skills acquired in their different unit, and it was fulfilling seeing different exhibitions of their works within the few days of learning.
Certificates were issued to all the participants, and awards distributed to the best students in each unit. Even the volunteers were also issued certificates of participation by the Founder,” she stated.
The founder also gave free copies of her latest book, titled: “Positive Affirmations and Declarations” to all the participants of the program. Every participants received refreshments at the closing party and the feedbacks from the teenagers and neighbouring communities were remarkable.
