In the city of Makurdi, located in Benue State, a tragic incident unfolded as a Nigerian Air Force FT-7NI trainer aircraft crashed during a routine training exercise.
The unfortunate event occurred on Friday evening, as reported by Channels Television.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, released a statement confirming the crash.
He revealed that “both pilots aboard the aircraft survived the ordeal by successfully ejecting from the plane.”
“Presently, they are receiving medical observation at a military facility,” he said.
He added, “Thankfully, no loss of life or damage to property occurred in the vicinity of the impact.”
In response to this incident, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, has taken immediate action. He has formed a Board of Inquiry tasked with investigating and determining the immediate and underlying causes of the crash.
