According to PUNCH Sports Extra, Victor Osimhen has made it clear that he requires an annual salary of €7m in order to extend his existing contract with Napoli.
Napoli has already begun negotiations to secure Osimhen’s contract extension and reportedly aims to include a substantial release clause of €200m in the new agreement, as reported by Get Italy football news.
The Nigerian footballer played a pivotal role in helping Napoli clinch their first Serie A title in 33 years. In the 2022/23 season, Osimhen emerged as the top scorer in Italy’s top-flight league, finding the net 26 times in 32 games.
His outstanding performances have attracted interest from several prominent clubs including PSG, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich.
The report suggests that a potential resolution to the matter could involve Napoli coming close to meeting Osimhen’s wage demand of approximately €7m, while also incorporating a release clause of around €200m in his new contract.
Additionally, shared image rights could serve as a negotiating point to facilitate an agreement between the two parties.
Sky Italia has reported a second meeting between Napoli and Osimhen’s representative, Roberto Calenda, regarding the player’s contract renewal. Calenda expressed Osimhen’s desire to continue his tenure with Napoli, and both sides are eager to ensure that the 24-year-old remains with the club for at least another season.
Calenda stated, “There is still a significant gap between the club’s offer and the player’s demands, but Napoli understands that they cannot afford to lose more assets after the departures of Cristiano Guintoli, Luciano Spalletti, and Kim Min-Jae.”
Meanwhile, Football-Italia reports that Osimhen has become Paris Saint-Germain’s primary target if Kylian Mbappe departs the club during the current summer transfer window.
Mbappe, a 24-year-old French forward, had previously been on the verge of joining Real Madrid last year but ultimately chose to reject Carlo Ancelotti’s side and sign a new two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, which includes an option for an additional 12 months.
