Iyabo Oko, a renowned veteran actress in the Nigerian film industry, popularly known as Nollywood, has reportedly passed away.
The sad news was announced by her daughter, Bisi Aisha, on Facebook, stating that the actress passed away on Wednesday evening.
Bisi Aisha wrote, “May your soul Rest In Peace, mummy.”
The death of Iyabo Oko was also confirmed by fellow actress Foluke Daramola-Salako, who shared the news on her Instagram page, expressing her condolences and acknowledging that they had done their best but ultimately, it was in God’s hands.
Prior to her passing, the 61-year-old actress had been battling with ill-health, which led to an extended break from her acting career.
Throughout her career, Iyabo Oko was known by various stage names, such as “Iyabo Oko,” “Apoti Aje,” and “Sisi Mama.”
Last year, one of Iyabo Oko’s daughters, Olamide, revealed that her mother had been diagnosed with ischaemic stroke approximately five years ago but chose to keep her health issues private.
During her challenging times, Yoruba Nollywood stars, including Foluke Daramola, Iyabo Ojo, Bolaji Amusan, Mercy Aigbe, Biodun Okeowo, and others, provided financial assistance to support her.
