President Bola Tinubu joined his fellow Nigerian Muslims in observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground in Lagos.
Among those present were Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, Babatunde Fashola, a former Lagos State Governor, and other high-ranking government officials.
During the sermon, Sheikh Suleiman Abu-Nolah, the Chief Imam of Lagos, emphasized the significance of the festival in promoting sacrifice, unity, and tolerance among Muslim believers.
He reminded everyone that the religion prohibits selfishness, intolerance, and sectionalism, urging them to use this occasion for introspection and to pray to God for solutions to the country’s challenges.
The Chief Imam offered prayers for Nigeria’s enduring peace, progress, and stability, urging all citizens to embrace the values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Femi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, called on Nigerians to continue praying for the well-being of the nation, emphasizing that sacrifice and patriotism are integral to their duties as citizens and essential for the nation’s greatness.
Gbajabiamila, in his address, expressed confidence that President Tinubu would provide hope to Nigerians by implementing policies that prioritize the people.
He stressed the president’s reliance on the prayers and support of Nigerians as he carries out various initiatives aimed at fulfilling the dreams of the nation’s founding fathers. Gbajabiamila acknowledged the challenges ahead but assured everyone that, with the collective prayers and backing of the Nigerian people, the president would overcome them.
