Residents of communities within Isawo area in Ikorodu West, Lagos State, have lamented the deplorable condition of their road.
According to the residents, during the rainy season, the Agric-Isawo Road is always a hellish place for motorists and residents as many find it difficult to cross the popular Afa Bridge in the area due to the heavy overflow at the spot.
For over six years, the residents have been facing life-threatening challenges which include traffic gridlock and exorbitant transport fares, a resident told The Naija News correspondent on Tuesday May 16, 2023.
“May we not just regret that we voted APC in this area,” the resident lamented.
“We are not asking too much from the state Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu. What we are asking is a basic thing that will make life easier for us,” a resident said.
The residents, therefore, appealed to Mr Sanwo-Olu to listen to their yearnings and that of motorists going through untold hardship on a daily basis while plying the road.
The communities affected include Igbo-Olomu, Oke-Oko, Isawo and Arepo.
“The major challenge we face on this road is the perennial overflow of the Oke-Afa River during the rainy season.
“Any time it rains, commuters using tricycles and motorcycles are forced to disembark and wade through the water after the bridge to get other tricycles at the other end to get to their destinations,” another resident said.
A motorist commended Mr Sanwo-Olu for constructing a lane on the Isawo road. He appealed for a speedy completion to ease the hardship road users face.
He also appealed for the commencement of construction of the second lane.
