The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) (Odi-Olowo branch) under the leadership of Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, has organised a Ramadan lecture for the residents in Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA.
The lecture, which was hosted by the Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Ajala (HRA), was held at 1, Imoru Street, Idi-Oro, Mushin Lagos, on Sunday March 26, 2023.
The lecturer, Ustaz Lukman Saheed, treated the topic: The journey of life as a Muslim.
The seasoned Islamic scholar, who began the lecture on a good note of appreciation, praised Almighty Allah for keeping everyone alive to witness this year’s Ramadan.
Ustadz Saheed commended the Chief Host and Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Ajala, for organizing the annual spiritual event.
He also commended the youth for their initiative and implored them to always glorify Allah, irrespective of the situation they find themselves.
Speaking on the topic, Ustaz Saheed maintained that every one needs to understand why they exist and how to live a meaningful life.
He stressed that the only manual of good life is the holy Qu’ran.
“The only book that clearly explains this life and guides everyone alright is the holy Qu’ran,” he said.
He advised the youth and other congregants at the event to adhere strictly to the teachings of the holy Qu’ran and Islamic rules.
“Whoever wants to live a good life must follow the path of our noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW),” the lecturer urged the gathering.
He stated further that the adolescent stage is a crucial one that needs proper planning and orientation to prepare well for the old age.
He urged every parent to train their children in the way of Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
Ustaz Saheed also used the avenue to advise the youth to properly guide themselves against the “ja pa” syndrome: the urge to travel abroad for greener pastures.
“The youth need to be guided and sensitized to the danger in the ‘ja pa’ syndrome. There is a need to do thorough findings about the place(s) you are going.
“The western world is corrupt. Their lifestyles over there is not absolutely worthy of emulation. You need to be wise to live a good life as a muslim,” he advised.
The highlight of the lecture was the presentation of iftar to all the people present.
