Three persons have been killed in Ibadan.
The bloody attack was reported on Thursday as the state prepares for the Governorship Election on Saturday.
Among the three killed was a ward 10 councilor, Sulaiman Ariyibi.
According to a report, the incident happened in Ibadan South East Local Government of Oyo State.
The councilor was said to be shot dead by suspected thugs working with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state.
Identities of the other two feared killed said to be non-members of PDP still remain unknown as of time of filing this report.
Addressing journalists at the State Hospital, Adeoyo, where the bodies of the deceased were taken by PDP members, the serving federal lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East federal constituency at the national assembly, Hon. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin described the incident as tragic and shocking.
According to the lawmaker who submitted that he was the target of the assailants due to the inclusive election in his federal constituency, alongside PDP supporters were on a final lap of the party’s campaign trail ahead of Saturday’s election round Ibadan South East local government.
He called on the police to carry out a thorough investigation to bring culprits to justice while alleging that the Oyo state chapter of APC has taken the coming election as a do-or-die affair.
Confirming the development, the Oyo state Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso told Western mirror.com.ng that investigation has commenced immediately and further updates will be provided in due time.
