A police patrol team in Lagos State have arrested two persons after recovering two locally fabricated firearms found on them during stop-and-search operation.
The state Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday February 19, 2023.
“A patrol team from Layeni Division stopped this eighteen-year old young man while riding on a motorcycle. He was searched and this locally fabricated firearm and two stolen phones were found on him,” he said.
“One less criminal on the streets. Many more to be taken off.”

Hundeyin also reported that “While on night patrol, officers from Orile Division stopped 34-year-old David at School Bus-stop. He was searched and found with a locally fabricated firearm and two live cartridges.”
Reactions
Some tweeps reacted to the arrest, especially the covering of the faces of the alleged criminals.
Slim Ramsey reacted that “Does anyone else, notice that the guns from both pics look the same?
While, it’s a kudos to the police force, I want us not to neglect the uncanny ability of police men to plant such on an innocent person, hence making it false accusation.”

Emmyotos commented that “The cleaning of our country should not only be on the streets but also inside the @PoliceNG , the government and the people…..the problem of Nigeria is just too much….if we can see sincere law enforcement agents, 9ja for nor dey like dis.”
Jaws Technical Services requested that the manufacturer of the firearms be fished out.
“Who is the manufacturer of this locally made pistol[?] It was same pistol in the hand of the eighteen years old and thirty four year old,” he said.
