President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to Nigerians, especially Christians, as they commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. In a statement titled “President Tinubu’s 2024 Christmas Message to Nigerians,” the president reflected on the season’s significance, recent national challenges, and the country’s journey toward progress.
“Christmas embodies the fulfilment of divine prophecy and symbolises the triumph of love, peace, and unity,” Tinubu remarked. “It is a poignant reminder that light can emerge even in the darkest times, bringing solace and hope. Indeed, God is with us.”
Addressing recent tragedies in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, Tinubu expressed deep sadness for the lives lost and those affected. “Our thoughts are with those who continue to suffer from these heartbreaking incidents. We earnestly pray that such misfortunes do not revisit our families and communities,” he said, extending sympathies to families affected by disasters throughout the year.
Asking Nigerians to embody the spirit of the season, Tinubu urged citizens to show kindness to those in need, regardless of their social status. “Kindness transcends financial status. Those with modest means and those with abundance need a smile or a word of encouragement,” he noted, adding that Nigerians should remain mindful of their neighbours, family members, and daily acquaintances facing difficulties.
The president also commended the nation’s troops for their sacrifices, describing them as “brave” and deserving of unwavering prayers and support. Similarly, he called on Nigerians to back their leaders as they work towards national prosperity, emphasizing, “With your backing, we can serve our country diligently and strive for prosperity.”
Highlighting the government’s efforts to ensure safe and convenient travel during the festive period, Tinubu revealed the provision of free train services and subsidized road transport across 144 routes nationwide. “For those travelling during this festive period, I wish you safe journeys,” he said.
Tinubu concluded on a hopeful note, reassuring Nigerians that the nation is on a promising path. “Nigeria is on a promising path of restoration and progress, with every indication pointing toward a bright future.
