A fire outbreak engulfed a private telecommunications office and a local eatery on Gana Street in Maitama, Abuja, on Saturday, leading to widespread panic. The blaze also spread to another building in the Wuse district, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) fire service confirmed.
Officials from the Asokoro division of the FCT fire service responded to both incidents and reported no casualties. Efforts are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
This incident follows a recent series of fire outbreaks across the country. Last weekend, a fire broke out along Lagos’ blue line track near the Eko Bridge in Apongbon, while in October, a lounge and bar in Olodi Apapa, Lagos, was engulfed in flames, tragically killing four employees.
Earlier this year, in March, a fire devastated portions of the Wuse market in Abuja, causing extensive damage to shops and goods.
