Kith & Kin International College, Ikorodu has hosted the 6th Edition of its Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurial Exhibition.

The event was themed: “Skill Acquisition for Self-Employment”.

In his opening remarks, the College Principal, Julius Gbenga Oregbesan, emphasized the importance of skill acquisition in today’s economy.

He said, “As the job market continues to evolve at a rapid pace, acquiring relevant skills is no longer a luxury but a necessity.”

He articulated the pressing need for educational institutions to adapt to the shifting landscape of employment, where traditional job roles are increasingly giving way to self-employment, entrepreneurship, and freelancing.

“Our mission at Kith & Kin is to prepare students for success in the emerging technology-driven global economy,” Oregbesan continued.

“Graduates from Kith & Kin International College MUST and WILL be equipped to compete with their peers worldwide.”

He pointed out that countries like China and Japan have thrived through early investments in skill training and mentioned that Kith & Kin shares this vision by ensuring every student acquires fundamental skills before graduation.

The principal also highlighted the recent inclusion of 15 skill acquisition programs in the national curriculum by the Federal Government, which aligns with the college’s proactive approach to skill development.

“We have already initiated these efforts, and we encourage parents and guardians to provide the necessary support to ensure students’ participation in these essential activities,” he urged.

The exhibition provided a platform for students to showcase the diverse skills they have mastered, reflecting the institution’s dedication to inspiring critical thinking and unlocking the potential of each student through a variety of opportunities.

Oregbesan concluded his address with an invitation for all attendees to enjoy the remarkable occasion, as the students prepared to demonstrate their talents and achievements.
