Social activist, Reno Omokri, has praised President Bola Tinubu for sacking Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, the former Minister of Women Affairs.
Omokri’s remarks reflect the support regarding the need for stable and effective leadership within the government.
“The sacking of Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye is a praiseworthy move by the President,” Omokri stated, adding, “This woman is more suited for the World Wrestling Federation than for a role in government.” He criticized her for “constantly engaging in petty squabbles and disrupting events and occasions,” arguing that her actions have been detrimental to the administration’s image.
One particular incident that drew his ire was Kennedy-Ohaneye’s interference in the cultural event involving the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in Niger State, which he emphasized was consensual and free from underage involvement.
“Her meddlesomeness in cultures she does not understand… was a major setback for the popularity of the administration in the North,” he noted.
Omokri commended the president for “showing her the door,” expressing a desire for leadership that embodies patience and foresight. “He needs a person whose temperament is calm, with a more contemplative attitude, such that they think long term and begin with the end in mind before speaking and acting,” he emphasized.
Looking ahead, Omokri welcomed the appointment of Ambassador Bianca Onoh, considering her addition a “significant plus for the administration.” He conveyed his personal endorsement, stating, “This is a woman I know personally and can vouch that she has the character and breeding to bring class and polish to the Federal Executive Council.” As the political landscape evolves, many eyes will be on the new appointments and their impact on governance in Nigeria.
