Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the approval of a N77,000 minimum wage for the state’s lowest-paid workers. This progressive move, effective immediately, underscores the administration’s steadfast commitment to enhancing the welfare of its workforce.
Governor Abiodun stated, “We are pleased to announce the approval of N77,000 as the new minimum wage for the lowest-paid workers in Ogun State, effective immediately.
This decision, reached after discussions with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), reflects our commitment to improving the welfare of our workers.”
The announcement follows extensive discussions with key labor organizations, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC).
The decision has been met with appreciation from labor leaders, who recognize it as the highest minimum wage in the country.
Governor Abiodun further emphasized the administration’s broader goals, saying, “Our administration remains dedicated to alleviating the challenges faced by the people of Ogun State. We are also engaging with the private sector, encouraging them to adopt similar measures to ensure fair wages for their employees.”
