To mark the International Day of the Girl Child, Girls Awake will host an event themed “Her Safety, Our Priority: Securing a Future for Every Girl” today October 11, 2024 in Lagos.
The event will bring together over 700 girls to promote empowerment, mental health awareness, and self-love.
The Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative (MANI), a leading mental health advocacy group, will lead a critical session focusing on mental well-being.
The session will equip the participants with essential tools to understand and manage their mental health, underscoring the importance of mental health awareness for young girls.
Agbo Blessing Chinwe, the convener of Girls Awake, will deliver an inspiring session on self-awareness and self-love.
She will encourage the girls to embrace their uniqueness and foster a sense of kindness within their communities.
As part of the program, copies of her book, “Becoming You: The Puberty Guide for Girls,” will be distributed.
The book provides practical advice on body image, self-care, and confidence, aligning with Girls Awake’s mission to empower girls to reach their full potential.
