The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dispatched 50 tons of humanitarian aid to Nigeria, aimed at assisting communities devastated by recent floods.
This substantial consignment was formally received by the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Mrs. Umar expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, acknowledging the UAE’s timely and generous assistance.
“On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, we received 50 tons of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to support those affected by recent floods across the country,” she stated, highlighting the critical need for such aid in the wake of widespread flooding.
The relief materials were officially handed over by the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Alshamsi, marking a momentous occasion that underscores the strong diplomatic ties and friendship between the two nations.
“We are grateful to the UAE Embassy for their kind gesture and commitment to assisting victims of disasters in Nigeria,” Mrs. Umar added, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in disaster response and recovery efforts.
The aid from the UAE is set to be distributed promptly to the flood-affected areas, providing much-needed relief to communities grappling with the aftermath of the flooding. Mrs. Umar assured that the distribution would be swift and efficient, aiming to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the natural disaster.
