Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially dissolved the Local Government Transition Implementation Committees that had been overseeing administration across the state’s 17 local government areas.
This significant announcement was made in a statement on Saturday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere.
In the wake of this dissolution, the governor has instructed Directors of Personnel Management to take charge of the administration in these council areas until elections are scheduled for October 9, 2024, to fill the vacant positions.
In his statement, Governor Mutfwang reflected on the contributions of the transition committee chairmen, commending them for their “exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing developmental projects that have directly impacted on their communities.”
He expressed satisfaction with their accomplishments and encouraged them to continue providing “valuable counsel to promote peace and unity” within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and across Plateau State.
Moreover, the governor urged the chairmen to collaborate closely with their constituents to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming local government elections.
He reiterated his commitment to running an “inclusive, transparent, and accountable government” that will serve the interests of all citizens in Plateau.
The transition committees were initially established in June 2023 following the dissolution of elected local government council officials by Governor Mutfwang, marking a new chapter in the state’s governance as it heads towards the elections.
