Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA has supported the Lagos State government Free Alafia Eko Medical Outreach
The initiative was launched by the state Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, across various health districts within the state.
This laudable initiative, aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged residents, took place yesterday at Corsy Bethel Primary School in Ilupeju, drawing a massive crowd.
From as early as 6:00 AM, the venue was bustling with activity as residents arrived in droves to avail themselves of free medical services.
The Permanent Secretary of Health District VI, Dr. Abimbola Mabogunje, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout. “The large turnout is a testament to the community’s need for such vital health services,” she remarked.
She also took the opportunity to extend her gratitude to the Chairman of Odi-Olowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, congratulating him on his recent birthday celebration.
Dr. Mabogunje praised the LCDA for its extensive health intervention programmes and commended the orderly conduct of the attendees.
“The orderliness and cooperation displayed by the people here today are commendable,” she noted.
Representing the Chairman, Hon. Nureini Ogunbona, the Supervisor for Health in the LCDA, lauded the state government for initiating the program in their locality.
“We are delighted that the state government under our amiable Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu has deemed it fit to bring this program to our LCDA,” he said.
Ogunbona detailed the LCDA’s efforts in aligning with the state’s health priorities.
“Free health services have been a cardinal point of our administration at the state level, and as a local government, we have integrated it into our programs. We have done fairly well in providing health services across all our centers, rehabilitating existing ones, and adding new facilities. Our health centers now operate 24 hours with the engagement of Resident Doctors,” he elaborated.
The outreach offered a wide range of services, including Health Education and Counseling, Tuberculosis Screening, Family Planning, Blood Pressure Checks, Medical Consultations, Blood Sugar Checks, HIV Screening, Eye Screening, Free Eyeglasses, and referrals for patients with secondary and tertiary ailments.
“We are here today to provide necessary support and ensure a smooth running of the program,” Hon. Ogunbona added.
The event was graced by the Director General of the district, the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in Odi-Olowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, Dr. Bidemi Fafunsho, and other health personnel from Odi-Olowo-Ojuwoye LCDA and Mushin Local Government, all of whom played pivotal roles in the programme execution.
