The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a man attempting to smuggle cocaine to Europe under the guise of a church member. The individual, dressed in a church uniform prominently displaying “Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha,” was intercepted at Lagos Airport with drugs ingeniously concealed in his sandals.
Femi Babafemi,the spokesman for the NDLEA, broke the news in the early hours of Sunday, July 28, via his verified handle on X (formerly known as Twitter). The revelation included two photos of the suspect in his religious attire and two videos showcasing the meticulous manner in which the cocaine was hidden within the footwear.
“God is not mocked! You’re wearing a cloth advertising God on your trip to Europe but you’re concealing cocaine worth millions in the sandals you’re wearing beneath. The temerity! The audacity! Video reveals moment @ndlea_nigeria officers discovered this at the Lagos airport#NDLEA,” Babafemi said.
Babafemi’s post did not disclose the suspect’s identity or specific details about the location of the arrest.
