The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos Police Command rescued an American citizen from a suicide attempt on the Third Mainland Bridge at 1:23 p.m. today.
The American, in his early 30s, was driven to the bridge by his partner and their daughter. Unbeknownst to his partner, he directed her to park while he walked towards the edge of the bridge, intending to leap into the Lagoon.
A vigilant passerby noticed his suspicious movements and quickly alerted the patrolling RRS operatives. The officers persuaded the man to abandon his suicide attempt and reunited him with his family before escorting them to the RRS Headquarters in Alausa.
The Commander of the RRS, after providing immediate counseling to the man and his family, directed that the case be transferred to the Gender Department of the Lagos Police Command for further counseling and necessary actions.
