101-year-old actor Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, known as Baba Agbako, continues to remain active in the film industry.
Despite his advanced age, Baba Agbako’s passion for acting keeps him visiting movie locations regularly.
During a recent interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod, the legendary Baba Agbako discussed his illustrious career, which spans over four decades. When asked if he still goes to movie sets, Baba Agbako enthusiastically confirmed, demonstrating his agility by jogging and jumping to prove his point. “I still go to movie locations, in fact, I still have a location I am going to,” he stated.
Born on February 19, 1923, in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Baba Agbako’s journey to stardom began in unconventional ways. Before entering the film industry, he worked as a mechanic and pursued amateur boxing. His acting career took off in 1953 at the Apostolic Church in Mushin, Lagos, where he began training play groups from other churches.
Baba Agbako’s talent eventually led him to Nollywood, where he became renowned for his roles in action-packed and thrilling Yoruba films. He has appeared in numerous notable movies, including ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Jagun’, ‘Amin Orun’, ‘Aiye’, ‘Jayesinmi’, ‘Soworo Ide’, and ‘Igbo Dudu’.
His enduring presence in the industry has made him a household name, particularly in the Yoruba film sector. Baba Agbako’s continued involvement in acting serves as a remarkable inspiration, showcasing that age is no barrier to pursuing one’s passion.
