The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos has issued a stern warning against fraudulent recruitment schemes circulating on social media platforms.
This caution comes as Commander CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi uncovered a Facebook page falsely claiming to offer recruitment opportunities into the Lagos Rapid Response Squad.
He stated that recruitment into the RRS, whether as a police officer or supernumerary personnel (SPY) such as drivers or riders, is exclusively managed by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Lagos State Government respectively.
CSP Egbeyemi emphasized that legitimate RRS recruitment processes are always well-publicized and do not involve transactions through social media channels.
Egbeyemi clarified that any individual engaging with these unauthorized platforms and paying for recruitment into the Lagos RRS is doing so entirely at their own risk.
“The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Government, and Lagos RRS bear no responsibility for such fraudulent activities,” he warned.
In a statement signed by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, prospective applicants and the public were urged to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to scams.
The commander cautioned against patronizing fraudsters claiming to facilitate recruitment into the RRS through unauthorized means.
“The RRS remains committed to ensuring the integrity of its recruitment processes and urges the public to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the appropriate authorities,” he said.
