The women’s wing of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has successfully trained 1,000 women and girls in leadership skills, aiming to enhance their social and economic well-being.
The chairperson of the group, Mardiya Imam, disclosed this empowering endeavour during a press conference held in Bauchi on Wednesday.
According to Imam, the comprehensive training took place during the 80th Islamic Vocation Course (IVC), spanning from December 22 to December 27 in Bauchi.
The focus of the programme was to equip the beneficiaries with essential leadership skills while providing marital counseling to promote tolerance and moral values in line with Islamic teachings.
Imam emphasized that the training was tailored to the educational qualifications and specializations of the participants, ensuring a nuanced and effective approach.
The five-day course fostered engaging discussions on various pertinent topics, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), reflecting the commitment to addressing crucial societal issues.
Encouraging the empowered women to strive for an elevated social and economic status, Imam expressed gratitude to both the Bauchi government and the MSSN for their support in making this initiative possible.
This laudable effort by MSSN not only contributes to the personal development of women but also aligns with broader goals of fostering gender equality and empowerment within the community.
