Nollywood actor, Dayo Amusa, has announced that she has forgiven TikTok content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, who falsely accused her of being HIV positive.

In July, the actress had threatened legal action against Segun — known on TikTok as unofficial_olas001 — after he named her among five Nigerian actors he alleged were living with HIV. Amusa swiftly debunked the claim, stressing that he had twisted a 2019 post where she revealed her HIV-negative status to encourage fans to get tested.

“Why do content creators and bloggers post unverified information? I have families and friends who read all these lies. He will be my scapegoat and serve as a lesson to others. I am HIV negative,” she had declared at the time.

However, in a video shared on her Instagram page on Monday, Amusa disclosed that she had reconsidered her stance and decided to forgive Segun. She explained that her decision was influenced by compassion after learning that he had just lost his mother, discovering he was only 27 years old, and meeting some of his family members.

“I did promise to make him a scapegoat, which I did, but along the line I realised he just lost his mum. I got to realise he is just a 27-year-old boy. I also got to meet his relatives, including his uncle,” Amusa said.

The actress also posted a clip of Segun apologising for his actions. “I want to apologise to her fans, I’m very sorry about that. Now we’re friends,” he said.

Expressing gratitude to her supporters, Amusa captioned her video: “Case closed. To err is human, to forgive is divine. Making mistakes is a natural and inherent part of being human. Let’s be guided.”

On his part, Segun confirmed in a separate TikTok video that he had spent two days in detention at Yaba Panti police station over the case, describing the experience as “the worst” of his life.

“I spent two days locked up in Yaba Panti. Aside from losing my mum, that was the worst experience of my life,” he said. “If not that she changed her mind and forgave me, I would have been there for a long time. I don’t pray to ever sleep in a cell again.”
