The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has strongly condemned what he described as a “heartless and barbaric act” following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media.
The video captures the abduction of a young boy and his two sisters in Amansea, Anambra State — a tragic incident that ended with the cruel murder of the boy by suspected kidnappers.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 15, 2025, the CP expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and the community, saying:
“The heartless and barbaric act is unacceptable. We condole with the grieving family as well as the good people of Amansea.”
CP Orutugu directed operatives of the State Intelligence Department to identify the surviving victim to assist police investigations. He appealed to residents to remain calm but vigilant, and to cooperate fully with law enforcement by providing credible information that could lead to the swift arrest of the culprits.
“The Command reiterates its resolve to remain firm in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the State,” he assured. “We will continue to prioritize the protection of every citizen in line with our constitutional responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, signed the statement on behalf of the Anambra State Police Command.
