Aruwe’s Free Summer Coaching: A Masterclass in Grassroots Educational Leadership

The chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe, is proving that leadership is not about how long you’ve been in office, but about the impact you make from day one.

In less than a month, the people of Mushin have begun to see tangible results—especially in the area of education, one of the most critical needs of any community. His actions in these early days are not just impressive; they are setting a precedent that could define his entire tenure. First impressions, they say, last forever.

This holiday season, Aruwe launched free tutorial classes for students in Mushin—a bold and thoughtful initiative that shows his heart is in the right place. To ease students’ movement and ensure accessibility, he strategically positioned the classes in two key locations: Palm Avenue and Itire. This is not just planning; it’s strategic thinking aimed at convenience and inclusion.

The programme caters to pupils from primary school right up to senior secondary school 3. It covers major subjects—Mathematics, English, Sciences, and Technology—handled by competent and experienced teachers who are being well-rewarded for their efforts.

This is no ceremonial gesture or publicity stunt; it is a deliberate, carefully designed intervention to boost academic performance and prepare students for the next academic session.

During a visit to the centres, one pleasant surprise stood out: some students had travelled from other local government areas while on holiday, and were now benefiting from Mushin’s generosity. They will return to their communities with stories of a chairman who values education enough to act decisively. That ripple effect cannot be underestimated.

Even more heartwarming was the chorus of appreciation from the students: “May God continue to bless Aruwe.”

They spoke with excitement, expressing how much they enjoy the classes and praising the chairman for his vision and care.

Any leader who prioritizes the education of young people is investing in the very foundation of a brighter future.

Aruwe’s initiative shows he is determined to nurture that future. In an era where some leaders merely “fulfil all righteousness” by ticking boxes, he is taking meaningful steps to transform lives.

If this is what we can expect in his first month, Mushin might just be in for an era of true grassroots transformation.
