    1.0 PREAMBLE

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Lagos State University Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme, which shall commence in October 2025.

The programme shall run for one (1) academic session, beginning in October 2025 and ending in September 2026. It is an intensive programme designed to prepare candidates with deficiencies in their O’Level results to successfully re-sit the examination and also prepare them for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for admission into the 100 Level degree programmes of Lagos State University.

The programme is located at the Lagos State University, Epe Campus. To ensure the integrity of the programme, all admitted students are required to reside in the school hostels for the duration of their study.

    2.0 WHY PRE-DEGREE STUDIES (PDS)?

Candidates who sit at home to write the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination struggle to gain admission through the general admission process. However, PDS students who pass their JAMB examination will secure admission through the PDS quota provided by Lagos State University.

    CURRENT PERFORMANCE

Despite the generally low performance rate in the 2025 UTME examination, the PDS recorded significant success. The performance of our current Pre-Degree candidates in the 2025 UTME is proof that their exposure to rigorous teaching and Computer Based Test (CBT) practice contributed to tremendous success in both quality and quantity. 89% scored 200 and above, and a handful scored above 300.
