The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Surulere Study Center has recognized Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, for his exceptional contributions to the institution’s growth and development.
The award ceremony, held at NOUN’s Surulere Center on Clegg Street, highlighted Hon. Ajala’s pivotal role in supporting the university operations.
Representing him at the event was his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Abubakar Babatunde Ilyas.
Professor Yemisi, Director of the Resource Institution and representative of NOUN Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters, lauded Hon. Ajala’s generosity. “While we were searching for a place to register our students, Hon. Ajala magnanimously provided a facility for us to register intending students,” she remarked, emphasizing the critical role his support played in advancing the university’s mission.
In addition to Hon. Ajala, Professor Yemisi extended appreciation to Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for facilitating the structure now used by the university.
The ceremony was a celebration of Hon. Ajala’s commitment to education and community development. His contributions, described as “selfless and transformative,” have left a lasting impact on NOUN, earning him this well-deserved recognition.
Another award recipient at the event was Hon. Sulaiman Bamidele Yusuf, Chairman of Surulere Local Government, honored for his support to the institution.
The event brought together notable dignitaries, including the former Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide, political office holders, community leaders, and scholars from NOUN.
This recognition underscores the vital role of community leaders like Hon. Ajala in fostering educational growth and development across Nigeria.
