The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has issued a clarification in response to misleading media reports claiming that the Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, has been shut down. According to NNPC Ltd., these reports are entirely false, and the refinery remains fully operational.
In a statement released on Thursday, NNPC Ltd. dismissed the rumors, emphasizing that the refinery is actively processing and preparing for daily loading operations. The company also highlighted that the facility’s functionality had been recently verified by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC, who confirmed its operational status.
“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing,” NNPC Ltd. stated, urging the public to disregard the unfounded claims. The company further expressed concern that such reports were being spread by individuals or groups intent on creating artificial scarcity in the oil market and potentially exploiting Nigerians.
