In a swift response to the tragic death of Jimoh Abdulquadri while in police custody in Kwara State, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over the case for a thorough and impartial investigation.

In a gesture of accountability and empathy, the IGP visited Kwara State on Sunday, December 22, 2024, to meet with the grieving family of the deceased.

During the visit, the IGP was received by the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, who spoke on behalf of the family.
The IGP expressed deep condolences and assured the family that justice would be served. “No stone will be left unturned in uncovering the circumstances that led to this tragic incident,” he said.
The IGP reiterated the Nigeria Police Force commitment to upholding accountability and professionalism. He emphasized that the FCID would handle the case with the highest level of diligence to ensure swift and unbiased justice.
Speaking further, the IGP urged all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
“The Nigeria Police Force has zero tolerance for unprofessional conduct. We remain steadfast in ensuring that the rights of every citizen are respected,” the IGP added.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the IGP’s directives in a statement issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The statement reassured the public of the police’s commitment to transparency and justice in handling the case.
The tragic incident has reignited conversations about police accountability and human rights, with the nation awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
