Operatives from the Edo State Police Command recently intervened to rescue two innocent individuals, including a minor, from a mob that attempted to lynch them over an unfounded accusation of manhood theft. The incident, which unfolded in the state, was reported by the police on Sunday, December 15, highlighting the swift action taken to prevent further harm.
According to the statement issued by Moses Yamu, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, the two individuals were wrongfully accused, and the police acted immediately to protect them. “This is an unfortunate situation. Edo Police responded to this distress call as you can see. The person wrongly accused of stealing the manhood and the little boy were rescued to the station amidst the mob trying to lynch them,” the statement reads.
The confusion arose when the alleged ‘victim’ tested his manhood and mistakenly believed it wasn’t functioning properly, which led to the baseless accusation. “Sources said the ‘victim’ was said to have gone to test his manhood and found that it is ‘working’,” the police clarified, dispelling any validity to the theft claim.
The two individuals, both of whom were completely innocent, were safely handed over to their families for medical care. The police also emphasized that efforts are ongoing to locate the alleged ‘victim’ in order to resolve the situation. In a final appeal for justice, the statement urged the public to reject mob justice: “Let’s say no to jungle justice over unfounded stories, please.”
