In a significant stride toward economic empowerment, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), supported 1,500 individuals during the 2024 Micro Enterprise Support Initiative.
The initiative is aimed at reiterating the state ongoing commitment to combating poverty and fostering entrepreneurship among residents.
Reaffirming the administration’s mission, an official statement declared, “We remain deeply committed to initiatives that create opportunities, reduce poverty, foster entrepreneurship, and promote economic empowerment for our residents.”
The initiative focused on skill acquisition, capacity building, and financial empowerment as vital tools to achieve long-term prosperity. The government emphasized that such efforts are critical to “eliminate poverty in Lagos and pave the way for prosperity.”
Highlighting the broader vision behind the initiative, the statement continued, “The Micro Enterprise Support Initiative is a testament to our administration’s dedication to creating a Greater Lagos, where every citizen can contribute meaningfully to our collective progress. It is not just about financial aid; it is about establishing a foundation for self-reliance and unlocking the potential of our women.”
In a call for inclusive growth, the administration stressed, “Every woman, regardless of her background, should have access to resources that can transform her life and her community.”
