Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the delegation led by Labour Party’s Peter Obi for appealing to Chief Afe Babalola regarding the detention and persecution of lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.
In a strongly worded statement, Sowore criticized the move, saying: “The delegation led by Mr. Peter Obi has committed an unspeakable and despicable injustice in the fight against judicial corruption in our country.”
Drawing a parallel with the American Civil Rights movement, Sowore remarked, “Obi’s actions feel like forcing Rosa Parks to return to the back of the bus (of racial injustice) during the Civil Rights era in the United States.”
He maintained that such actions undermine the fight against corruption and injustice, declaring, “The struggle continues!”
Farotimi’s detention has sparked widespread debate, and Sowore’s condemnation highlights growing tensions in Nigeria’s battle for judicial integrity and accountability.
