The NASFAT community is mourning the loss of a beloved family following a tragic fire incident that occurred overnight between December 1 and December 2, 2024, in Ede, Osun State.
The fire claimed the lives of six family members, including Custom Tijani Kabir, Sister Satarah Abass-Tijani, and four of their children.
According to a report, only one child survived the devastating incident, leaving the community in deep grief.
Sharing the heartbreaking news, a statement from NASFAT Ede Branch expressed sorrow and solidarity, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi roji’un. We lost an entire family at NASFAT Ede Branch during midnight 01/12/2024 – 02/12/2024 due to a fire outbreak. Our former Zonal Financial Secretary NYW Osun Zone.”
The Osun State Fire Service said it had begun a probe into the fire incident which killed a Customs officer attached to the Oyo/Osun Command, Tijani Kabiru, his wife and four children in their house in Ede.
The incident which occurred in Akankan Area of Ede in the early hours of Monday, immediately threw the community into mourning and caused panic among the residents, who woke up to the news of the passage of the victims.
