Renowned Nigerian investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to exposing societal ills despite the personal risks involved.
Soyombo made this bold statement during an interview with ARISE Television on Saturday, following his release from military custody.
Soyombo’s detention stemmed from his recent undercover investigation into oil theft and illegal bunkering operations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The journalist revealed that the project, which exposed corruption and criminal activities in Nigeria’s oil sector, cost him a staggering ₦6 million to execute.
Speaking on the challenges of his profession, Soyombo emphasized that fear of death would not deter him from pursuing the truth. “I am fully aware of the dangers associated with investigative journalism, especially in a country like ours, but I’m not afraid of death,” he declared.
During his covert operation, Soyombo uncovered intricate networks of oil thieves and their alleged enablers, which led to his arrest by military personnel.
