The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) received high praise from Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for its outstanding contributions to technology, education, and innovation in Nigeria. Speaking during the university’s 34th and 35th convocation ceremonies held on Saturday, the Governor commended FUTA for championing academic excellence and producing world-class graduates.
In his goodwill message, Governor Aiyedatiwa celebrated the perseverance and hard work of the graduating students, emphasizing their resilience in achieving academic success.
He also applauded the leadership of FUTA Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike T. Oladiji, stating, “You have transformed FUTA into a world-class institution with groundbreaking achievements. The caliber of graduates this university consistently produces is a testament to your resilience and commitment to excellence.”
The governor urged the graduands to uphold integrity, resilience, and hard work, encouraging them to use their knowledge and skills to impact society positively.
He assured FUTA of the government’s continued support, saying, “In the years ahead, we shall continue to look forward to the University Community for all-round collaboration in the onerous task of building a more virile and prosperous Ondo State. On our part as a government, we urge you to count on our administration to continue to provide an enabling atmosphere required for flourishing academic development, innovation, enterprise, and knowledge.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa linked the shared vision between FUTA and the state government to the federal RENEWED HOPE Agenda led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Ondo State’s development priorities, encapsulated in “OUR EASE,” focusing on security, urban and rural development, industrialization, healthcare, education, and sustainable agriculture.
In her welcome address, Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike T. Oladiji reaffirmed FUTA’s dedication to fostering excellence in science, technology, and engineering education. She described the graduating students as the pride of FUTA, commending their hard work and determination. She also highlighted the institution’s mission to advance education through innovation and thanked the Ondo State Government for its continuous support for education.
During the ceremonies, FUTA conferred postgraduate diplomas, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees on 1,280 graduates, comprising 344 PGD, 756 Master’s, and 180 Ph.D. recipients. The institution also graduated over 6,500 undergraduates, including 519 first-class honorees, 3,408 second-class upper recipients, 2,139 second-class lower achievers, and 339 third-class graduates.
The convocation ceremonies underscored FUTA position as a leading academic institution committed to shaping the future through innovation and excellence, with Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to build a prosperous and technologically advanced Ondo State.
