President Bola Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commenced a three-day State Visit to Paris on Wednesday evening, aimed at enhancing Nigeria-France relations across multiple sectors.
Arriving at Orly Airport at approximately 5:10 p.m., President Tinubu was received with full military honours by the French Republican Guard, symbolizing the significance of the visit.
Official engagements are set to begin on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides, where French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron will welcome their Nigerian counterparts. A prestigious reception at the Palais de l’Élysée will follow, underscoring the diplomatic importance of the visit.
According to the State House, the visit is strategically designed to deepen bilateral ties in areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition. “The visit promises substantial benefits for Nigeria,” the statement read.
President Tinubu and President Macron are expected to collaborate on initiatives that will promote youth exchange programs and foster skills development in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Beyond these, the leaders will engage in high-level discussions on shared priorities, including finance, solid minerals, trade, investment, and communication. A special session with the France-Nigeria Business Council is also planned to encourage private sector collaboration for economic development.
First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and her French counterpart, Brigitte Macron, will hold discussions centered on empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups, aligned with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
The visit will culminate in a state dinner hosted by President Macron, honouring the Nigerian delegation before their departure.
