In a bid to bolster Nigeria’s anti-corruption and public service integrity mechanisms, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated three distinguished individuals to fill vacant positions on the board of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
This nomination was officially conveyed in a letter addressed to the Senate President and announced in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on November 26, 2024.
The new nominees are Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle from Oyo State, Kennedy Ikpeme from Cross River, and retired Federal High Court judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba.
Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise aimed at strengthening the bureau’s commitment to accountability and ethical compliance within Nigeria’s public service.
Established in 1979, the Code of Conduct Bureau has been a central pillar in upholding ethical standards and curbing misconduct among public officials. The bureau is governed by a 10-member board tasked with overseeing compliance and investigating violations.
President Tinubu’s latest nominations follow the swearing-in of Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as chairman of the CCB board on October 23, 2024. The current board members include Barr. Muritala Aliyu Kankia, Hon. E J Agbomayinma, Barr. Ben Umeano, Prof. Juwayriyya Badamasiuy, Mr. Bulus I Zephaniah, and Hon. Abdulsalam Taofiq Olawale.
With these appointments, the administration underscores its commitment to a transparent, accountable, and ethical public service.
