Ifeoma Nwankwo, a distinguished member of the University of Ibadan Board of Governing Council, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her re-appointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for a second term.
Okonjo-Iweala’s re-election comes after a rigorous selection process, where she emerged as the sole candidate, ensuring her continued leadership at the helm of the WTO. The renowned economist, originally from Delta State, made history as the first female to hold such a prestigious global office.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Nwankwo expressed her pride in Okonjo-Iweala’s re-appointment, emphasizing that it reflects the caliber of Nigerians and their significant contributions to global development.
“I wish her all the best in her current appointment as she consolidates in office to innovate optimum valued services for the global trade community,” Nwankwo said.
She further congratulated Nigeria and Nigerians, noting, “I must also congratulate Nigeria and Nigerians on the attainment and sustainability of this rare feat achieved by Dr. Ngozi and numerous other well-meaning Nigerians.”
