In a notable appointment, Rasaq Abija, widely recognized by his alias, “Amani,” has been named an executive member of the Lagos State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
A respected figure in Idi Oro area of Mushin, Amani’s addition to the executive team marks a significant move for the union as it seeks to strengthen leadership and foster cohesion.
This development was disclosed in a statement by Lagos NURTW Chairman Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as “Sego,” on Friday.
Sego officially presented the new executive list, expressing enthusiasm for the team poised to steer the organization forward.
“I am honoured to officially present the list of executive members who will work alongside me to lead and shape the future of the NURTW in Lagos State,” said Sego.
“Together, we are entrusted with the responsibility to advance the welfare of our members, enhance commuter experiences, and build a stronger, more unified Lagos.”
He underscored the importance of unity within the team and urged all appointees to approach their roles collaboratively, setting aside any personal affiliations for the collective progress of the NURTW. “Our strength lies in unity,” Sego emphasized.
“Let us carry out our duties not as individuals with special status or affiliations, but as a cohesive team, committed to the growth and progress of the NURTW and to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to us by our members.”
Sego also reached out to those not included in the executive lineup, encouraging their active involvement and emphasizing that everyone’s support is crucial to the union’s mission.
“Your contributions and support are essential to the success of our vision, and I am committed to ensuring everyone feels included in this journey,” he added.
Concluding his statement, Sego reaffirmed his dedication to inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration with the Lagos State government, pledging to work towards a “secure and progressive environment” for all NURTW members, residents, and commuters in Lagos.
